Formal Portraits Retouched with questions

Image
  1. My favorite portrait is the first one because both the teeth and eyes are showing and glowing. 2. The easiest part of the retouching process was touching up the skin with the spot healing brush, as we have used it many times before. 3. The hardest part of the retouching process was retouching the eyes and teeth, as it was hard to fina a brightness that complimented both features.

Landscape Photographers in Depth

Image
Sebastiao Salgado The image is about a soldier of some sort. One thing that I like about this image is how it captures the hidden stress and emotions that occur before a battle. One element of art used in the image is color, or the lack of it, and one principle of design used is contrast. One interesting thing that I learned about the photographer was that he was born in 1944, which goes to show just how relevant photography can stay over a long time. Kwasi Boyd-Bouldin The image is about living in a transresidential environment. I like how familiar the image feels, and it is the most relatable of the three I chose. One element of art used in the image is form, and one principle of design used is harmony. One interesting thing that I learned about the photographer was that Kwasi was the lead photographer for the Netflix series "City of Ghosts". Caroline Foster The image is about the magnetic pull that mountains have on explorers. I like this image because the person in the ...

Santa Cruz Expedition In this image, I went to Santa Cruz with my girlfriend and some of our friends. I took this picture of her to emphasize the beach setting, as she is wearing a crewneck with sea life on it. Also, the background consists of clear to see volleyball courts and beach houses. We were near the boardwalk.

Photo Essay Planning

My photo essay is about: The trajectory of a football The story I am telling is: The start through finish of a ball thrown through the air The first shot will be: The motion of me/my subject throwing a football  Because I need it to: Shoe the form that will allow the ball to sour The second shot will be: The football leaving my hands Because I need/want it to: Show the start of the balls trajectory The third shot will be: The football at its peak hight  Because I need/want it to: Show how high the ball can potentially go The fourth shot will be: The football starting to descend Because I need/want it to: Show how the ball reacts to gravity The fifth shot will be: The football hitting the ground Because I need/want it to: Show the end of the trajectory, thus completing the project  Additional shots that I might add: A shot that shows the ascension of the ball

High Key/Low Key Portraits

Image
 1. My favorite image is the third one, as I think the shadows in it make it better than the others. 2. One thing that I would have done differently was taking more pictures for the High Key section.

I chose to add kelp as my extra element since it fit with the theme of the photo.

Landscape in a Bottle

  1. I liked this project because the final picture looks really impressive and I wouldn't believe that I made this a few months ago. 2. I feel like my listening skills improved during this lesson, and I wasn't distracting myself much during the process of making the picture. 3. I am proud because I was able to fully complete the picture step for step, even after missing the first day.
